 that the Deaf population is three to five times more likely to experience 
 mental health issues. Also\, it is estimated that more than five million D
 eaf Americans every year need mental health services. However\, clinicians
  using traditional counseling methods with the Deaf population are most of
 ten ineffective\, even with the addition of a sign language interpreter\, 
 can actually replicate trauma previously experienced by the client. Theref
 ore\, only two percent of these Deaf individuals will receive appropriate 
 mental health services every year in the U.S. This training will answer th
 e following questions:\n\nWhat is “Deaf Mental Health” and how is it diffe
 rent from traditional counseling methods?\nHow can clinicians not fluent i
 n ASL work effectively with a sign-language interpreter?\nWhat is the futu
 re of Deaf Mental Health in Arkansas?\nFacilitated By: Kerry Ingram\, LPC–

 S. in Psychology of Counseling\, is a Clinical Therapist at the Arkansas S
 chool for the Deaf. He has over 13 years of experience in mental health an
 d is the Supervisor of the School-Based Program. He also has a specializat
 ion in Counseling Supervision.\n\nHolly Beth Smith\, is a nationally certi
 fied RID\, CT\, NAD III\, Licensed Interpreter. She has a BA in Interpreti
 ng\, is Arkansas Court Certified\, a 20 year independent contractor\, over
  10 years experience mentoring novice interpreters and 12 years of video r
 elay interpreting experience.\n\nThis training will provide Clinical CEUs 
 (2 hours)\, but is open to all who are interested. $25 per person.\n\nPlea
